You are simply responsible to pay for the books required to complete the program.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Work Description and Pay Structure<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><span>Electricians plan, diagram, install and repair electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment such as switches, relays, breaker panels and circuits, and then test to ensure compatibility and safety of components.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>They also measure, cut, bend, thread, assemble and install electrical conduits, and pull wire through conduit.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Apprentices are assigned to one of our Local 910 electrical contractors. As you learn by doing, you are also paid directly by the contractor with whom you are employed. The typical work schedule is Monday through Friday, 7am-3:30pm but some projects may require swing or graveyard shifts.\u00a0 Further, since the industry as a whole is construction-based, there will be periods of unemployment but the average electrical apprentice in our jurisdiction works approximately 1700 hours per year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Upon completion of 900 hours\u00a0classroom training and 8200 hours of OJT, Journeyman Wireman status is granted. At this point, IBEW Journeyman papers and New York State Journeyman Wireman certificate is awarded.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h1>\n<p><strong>Do I qualify?<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/h1>\n<div>\n<p><span>\u00a0You will be required to: <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li><span>Be at least 17 years of age to apply and 18 years of age at the time of indenture.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li><span>Show evidence of successful completion of: two (2) full years of high school math of which one (1) is high school algebra or a post high school algebra course.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li><span>Provide an official transcript for high school, post high school education, GED records and any related training.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li><span>Pass the electrical trade\u2019s aptitude test\u00a0to qualify for an interview.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li><span>State\u00a0that you have reliable transportation.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li><span> <\/span><span>Veterans will be required to submit a DD-214 if selected<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>\n<p><span>Applicants who are interviewed receive a rank, then new apprentices are selected annually from a ranking list, in order of their rank.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>The recruitment, selection, employment and training of apprentices during their apprenticeship, shall be without discrimination because of race, color, religion, national origin, sex or age-except the applicant must be. The JATC does not, and will not, discriminate against a qualified individual with a disability because of the disability of such individual. The sponsor will take affirmative action to provide equal opportunity in apprenticeship and will operate the apprenticeship program as required under applicable law and lawful regulations issued there under.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h1>\n<p><strong>Application<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/h1>\n<div>\n<p>There is a $25.00 application fee to set up your account in <a href=\"https:\/\/secure.tradeschoolinc.com\/v5\/ibew910-org\/login\/index.php\">TradeSchool<\/a>, submit your application and schedule your aptitude test.<\/p>\n<p>Please make sure you live within 20 will be required to take an aptitude test. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div>\n<p><span>After your application is complete with all required documents, you\u2019ll be scheduled to take an
